Health Sciences, Specialized Associate in Arts Transfer Degree to UCF
The Specialized Associate in Arts Transfer (SAAT) degree in Health Sciences prepares students for transfer as juniors to the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, Health Promotion Track or Pre-Clinical Track degree program at the University of Central Florida. This SAAT degree provides direct admission to the University of Central Florida and to the Health Sciences, Health Promotion Track or Pre-Clinical Track. Students are required to meet all requirements listed in the relevant Articulation Agreement in order to complete this degree.

*While a general Associate in Arts degree can be completed in 60 hours, the biology degree pathway could exceed that based upon a student’s math entry assessment placement or level of completion in algebra, high school foreign language completion, and high school chemistry.

- Students should enroll in the program before completing 30 credit hours, including, but not limited to, college credits earned through articulated mechanisms pursuant to s. 1007.27, complete the degree, and meet the UCF transfer requirements. Students shall apply for admission to UCF in accordance with the rules, policies, and procedures of UCF in effect at the time of application and within the established deadlines https://www.ucf.edu/admissions/undergraduate/transfer/. Lake-Sumter State College students who have completed the SAAT degree in Health Sciences will be admitted to UCF consistent with university policy. After admission to UCF, SAAT Health Sciences students will be accepted into the College of Health Professions and Sciences as Health Sciences majors consistent with the program's admission requirements.
- Students must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 for acceptance into the Pre-Clinical track.
- No transfer course will be accepted with a grade lower than a "C" (2.0).
- Note Specific to Health Sciences, Pre-Clinical Track: Students who do not meet the minimum overall 3.0 GPA graduation requirement will be automatically moved to the Health Sciences – Health Promotion track during their graduation term and will earn the Health Sciences – Health Promotion track B.S. if they have met all other program requirements.
Writing Emphasis or "Gordon Rule" Requirement
In addition to the two required Area I: Communications courses, SAAT students must select two additional courses from the list below to complete the remaining 6 credit hours of the 12 credit hour Writing Emphasis or "Gordon Rule" Writing (GRW) requirement. Courses used toward the satisfaction of this 12 credit hour Writing Emphasis (GRW) requirement must be passed with a grade of “C” or higher.

Foreign Language Requirement
- Competency in a Foreign Language is required for completion of the SAAT degree either by:
- Completion of two (2) credits at the secondary (high school) level in the same language
- Complete and pass the elementary 2 level or higher of one foreign language at the college level
Civic Literacy Requirement
As per the amended Florida Rule 6A-10.02413, prior to the award of a specialized associate in arts transfer degree, associate in arts, associate in science, or baccalaureate degree, LSSC students under the 2022-2023 Catalog and thereafter must demonstrate competency in civic literacy through one of the following options prior to graduation:
- successfully passing POS 2041 American National Government or AMH 2020 U.S. History Since 1877, or AMH 2010 U.S. History to 1877 (beginning Fall 2024 forward), or AMS 2010 Civil Discourse and the American Political Order and achieving a 60% or higher on the Florida Civic Literacy Exam , or
- successfully passing a prescribed assessment:
- AP Government & Politics Test: United States (passing score of 3), or
- AP U.S. History Test (passing score of 4), or
- CLEP: American Government (passing score of 50)
- CLEP: History of the United States I (passing score of 50)
