Software Code of Ethics
The following code of ethics governs software use and duplication at Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC), and applies to both students and employees:
- Compliance with Licensing Agreements: All software must be used in accordance with the College's licensing agreements.
- Authorization and Procurement: All software must be purchased and approved through established budgetary planning and purchasing procedures. The use of any unauthorized software on college equipment is prohibited.
- Prohibition of Illegal Copying: Illegal copying of software is strictly prohibited. LSSC has internal controls to prevent the use of unauthorized software copies.
- Disciplinary Measures: Appropriate disciplinary measures may be applied by the college for violations of these standards. Both state and federal law prescribe penalties, including fines and imprisonment, for violating software license agreements.
- Reporting Violations: Anyone suspecting misuse of software or a violation of this code of ethics should immediately contact the college’s Chief Information Officer.
