The following code of ethics governs software use and duplication at Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC), and applies to both students and employees:

1. Compliance with Licensing Agreements: All software must be used in accordance with the College's licensing agreements.
2. Authorization and Procurement: All software must be purchased and approved through established budgetary planning and purchasing procedures. The use of any unauthorized software on college equipment is prohibited.
3. Prohibition of Illegal Copying: Illegal copying of software is strictly prohibited. LSSC has internal controls to prevent the use of unauthorized software copies.
4. Disciplinary Measures: Appropriate disciplinary measures may be applied by the college for violations of these standards. Both state and federal law prescribe penalties, including fines and imprisonment, for violating software license agreements.
5. Reporting Violations: Anyone suspecting misuse of software or a violation of this code of ethics should immediately contact the college’s Chief Information Officer.
