Student Financial Assistance
The Financial Aid Office is committed to helping students navigate the financial aid process and make obtaining a quality credential more affordable. The primary purpose of our student financial aid programs is to provide financial assistance to qualified LSSC students during their educational journey. The Financial Aid Office offers scholarships, grants, work opportunities, and loans for eligible students. Many students qualify for some form of financial aid and are encouraged to apply for aid by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Listed below are the financial aid programs available to eligible LSSC students:
- Federal Pell Grant (PELL)
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
- First Generation Matching Grant (FGMG)
- Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG)
- State of Florida Scholarships
- LSSC Institutional Scholarships
- LSSC Foundation Scholarships
- Federal Work Study (FWS)
- Federal Parent Plus Loan (DLPLUS)
- Federal Direct Subsidized Loan (DLSUB)
- Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan (DLUNSU)
Financial Aid Deadlines
A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed each academic year. A new FAFSA is required each academic year which covers the fall, spring, and summer sessions. Students should apply early as many financial aid programs have limited funding that is awarded on a first come, first served basis.
Priority Deadline for Completion of Financial Aid File
To ensure your financial aid is processed prior to the fee payment deadline, students must complete all steps in the application process by the Financial Aid Priority Deadline listed below:
- July 12, 2024 for Fall 2024
- November 13, 2024 for Spring 2025
- April 11, 2025 for Summer 2025
Students may still apply for aid after the Priority Deadlines, and the LSSC Office of Financial Aid will make every effort to process documents as quickly as possible..
Late Applicants
The Financial Aid Office has established priority deadlines in order to prioritize limited funding programs. The Priority Deadline is published in the Academic Calendar. All students who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will have their file reviewed for aid, regardless of meeting the priority deadline.
Students who have not met the priority deadline do not receive a guarantee that their application will be processed in time to meet the fee payment deadline or eligible for a bookstore allowance. In these situations, the student will need to make other arrangements to pay tuition, fees, and purchase books; if the student qualifies for financial aid, a refund will be issued later in the semester. Students may also seek help with paying fees through the Payment Plan.
