The Bachelor of Applied Science - Leadership (BAS-L) degree is an undergraduate degree that is designed for students to continue their higher education after completing an Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Science (AS) degree, or at least 60 college credits. The program educates leaders to effectively manage their organizations and positively impact their communities. Graduates of this program have diverse career paths open to them in a broad range of industries including sales, retail, small business, government, public safety, healthcare, criminal justice, and not-for-profit organizations. The BAS-L degree program is offered fully online and offers a flexible schedule with the following concentrations within the degree:
Criminal Justice Leadership
The Criminal Justice Leadership concentration is for those interested in pursuing leadership positions in Law Enforcement and Corrections agencies.
Health Services Administration
The Health Services Administration concentration educates leaders to effectively manage healthcare organizations and positively impact their communities.
Human Resources Management
The Human Resources Management concentration is for those interested in pursuing a position in the Human Resource field in a wide range of organizations.
Sports Leadership
The Sports Leadership concentration is for those interested in pursuing positions in sports leadership and management fields.
Organizational Management
The Organizational Management concentration prepares individuals to take on leadership roles in various environments in the public, private, for-profit, and not-for-profit sectors.
Project Management
The Project Management concentration prepares individuals to manage the various aspects of large-scale projects in multiple industries.
BAS-L Program Requirements (120 Credits)
AA degree, AS Degree, or 60 college credit hours
BAS-L program courses equaling 60 college credit hour
In addition to meeting the General Education requirements, baccalaureate degree-seeking students must meet the State of Florida's foreign language and civic literacy requirements prior to graduation.
Enrollment Requirements in Upper-Division Courses
Upon notification of acceptance into the BAS-L degree program and prior to beginning any upper-division courses, students are required to:
Meet with the BAS-L academic advisor to determine coursework needed to complete the degree.
Enroll in the program’s Cornerstone course, MAN 3240 Organizational Behavior, in the first semester of the program.
All upper-division (3000-4000 level) courses have prerequisite and/or co-requisite courses. It is the student’s responsibility to work with the BAS-L academic advisor and/or program director every semester, prior to registration, to assure proper course planning throughout the program of study and timely completion of all graduation requirements.

Leadership Core Courses (30 Credits)
The Leadership Core Courses are required for all students pursuing the BAS in Leadership degree. These courses are intentionally designed and sequenced to complement one another and to provide you with an intentional, real-world learning experience. You are advised to complete the courses in the provided sequence, based on your starting semester, to ensure timely degree completion and mastery of all course content.
If students do not have prior accounting or finance experience (either via coursework or work-based application), prior to taking FIN 3400 Financial Management, they are encouraged to consider completing ACG 2021 Financial Accounting, ACG 2071 Management Accounting, ACG 3024 Accounting for Managers, or FIN 2100 Personal Finance prior to enrolling in FIN 3400 Financial Management.
Completion of all program requirements, including a minimum of 120 semester credit hours, comprised of:
36 semester credit hours as designated in the LSSC General Education requirements. (Students who enter the baccalaureate program with a completed AA or baccalaureate degree or with official transcripts documenting “General Education Requirements Met” from a Florida College System or State University System institution shall be considered to have satisfied LSSC’s General Education requirements.)
36 semester credit hours of transferable associate degree electives, technical, and professional support coursework. At least 12 of these semester credit hours must be designated as approved Professional Support Courses with a grade of C or higher.
48 semester credit hours of upper-division coursework in the major.
Completion of all upper-division (3000-4000 level) courses with a grade of C or higher.
Minimum of 15 upper-division (3000-4000 level) semester credit hours, including the Capstone course, must be earned from LSSC.
Overall cumulative grade point average of 2.0, including all upper- and lower-division LSSC college-credit coursework and all transferred coursework.
Fulfill the Florida Foreign Language Competence requirement for bachelor’s degrees, even if this requires the student to exceed 120 total semester credit hours. Students may fulfill this requirement by successfully completing one of the following options:
Two sequential high school credits in one language.
Two sequential college-credit courses in a foreign language or American Sign Language.
Minimum designated College Level Examination Program (CLEP) scores in Spanish, French, or German.
Completion of a college degree or equivalent, or high school diploma from a foreign country where English courses were studied as a foreign language. This must be stated on the official evaluated transcript. See additional information in Coursework from International Institutions.
As per the amended Florida Rule 6A-10.02413, prior to the award of an associate in arts, associate in science, or baccalaureate degree, LSSC students under the 2022-2023 Catalog and thereafter must demonstrate competency in civic literacy through one of the following options prior to graduation:
successfully passing POS 2041 American National Government or AMH 2020 U.S. History Since 1877 or AMH 2010 U.S. History to 1877 beginning Fall 2024 forward and achieving a 60% or higher on the Florida Civic Literacy Exam , or
successfully passing a prescribed assessment:
AP Government & Politics Test: United States (passing score of 3), or
AP U.S. History Test (passing score of 4), or
CLEP: American Government (passing score of 50)
CLEP: History of the United States I (passing score of 50)
